Selling Your Art Online – Shopify
At MB Web, no budget doesn’t mean no website.
Jane Tattersfield is a renowned local East Sussex artist and illustrator whose vivid colours and patterns combine to make her unique artwork.
Unfortunately, her old website hadn’t been updated in eight years, wasn’t optimised for mobile or tablet devices, and didn’t showcase or sell her beautiful work.
The brief was simple – create a web shop with not a lot of budget and not a lot of time. So, how do you do you set up an affordable web shop quickly to sell your products online?
Find an eCommerce platform right for you
As we knew budget was tight, we suggested Shopify as an online selling platform. It has a relatively low monthly cost and is set up to start selling with minimal configuration and comes with some free ‘ themes’ that enable you to choose the look and feel of your website really quickly.
Set up your online shop
After an initial consultation we set to work. Within a couple of hours, we had completed a very basic web shop which was set up to sell online and showcase Jane’s beautiful cards, canvases and prints.
Add your products, and you’re in business!
Once we had uploaded some example products, we handed the website over to our client for them to populate with the rest of her content. Thankfully Shopify’s simple and easy to use platform make adding products quick and easy, making the product population phase of the project simple and efficient.
Within a few weeks the shop was live, and Jane’s work was being sold internationally. The easy-to-manage system means that Jane is in complete control of her shop, but we’re always just a phone call away if she needs a hand.
